Age limits

Start at 16
The upper age limit for all Awards is 25.

Time needed

It would usually take between 12-18 months to complete a Gold DofE Award.

	Volunteering	Skills	Physical	Expedition	Residential Section
Time Requirement	12 Months	One section of 6 months and one of 12 months	Preparation for the expedition must include training and practice journeys. At least one of the journeys must be in a similar environment to the final expedition. The final (assessed) expedition must be over 4 days with 3 nights camping. There must be 8 hours planned activity each day, at least 4 of which should be spent journeying	5 days and 4 nights in unfamiliar surroundings
Direct entrants must undertake an additional 6 months on the Service or the longer Skills or Physical section. Time spent on these activities can be flexible, but should average at least an hour a week.
