Educational Visits Coordinator (EVC) Training - Wednesday 11th June 2008

A 1-day course for the appointed EVC in primary and secondary schools and the youth service.
Course includes:

  • Roles and responsibilities
  • Risk assessment
  • Competence, leadership and supervision
  • What the EVC needs to know and do

Evolve Training - Thursday 24th April 2008 2pm - 4pm

This course is designed for group leaders running off site school trips to introduce the new IT system which will reduce the admin and organisation required to produce the necessary documentation.

Visit Leader Training - Wednesday 12th March 2008

A 1-day course for staff and volunteers operating in a supervisory capacity on an off-site trip.
Course includes:

  • Active risk management
  • Group management
  • National and local guidance
  • Working by water (canals, streams, ponds, rivers etc)

Organising a Snowsports Visit - TBA

A ½ day workshop for teachers/youth workers involved in organising ski and snowboard trips.
Workshop includes:

  • Current local and national good practice in the supervision of young people
  • Key guidance documentation and sources of advice and support
  • Training in risk assessing snowsport visits

Organising a Foreign Exchange Visit - TBA

A ½ day workshop for teachers/youth workers involved in organising exchange programmes.
Workshop includes:

  • Current local and national good practice in the supervision of young people
  • Key guidance documentation and sources of advice and support
  • Training in risk assessing foreign exchange visits

Countryside Leader Award - TBA

A 2-day course for adults taking groups out walking in non-mountainous and non-moorland terrain. The Award has been designed for Herefordshire Council and is non-transferable.
Course includes:

  • Navigation
  • Planning (including risk assessments)
  • Equipment
  • Group management
  • Overnight camping

Risk Assessment Workshop - Arranged on request

A short workshop covering all aspects of the risk assessment process from initial planning to evaluation. This course is run in schools/organisations as a twilight session (1.5 hours).
