Welcome to the Duke of Edinburgh's Award in Herefordshire

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award offers an individual challenge to young people between the ages of 14 and 25. Anyone can take part, you do not need any experience or special qualifications, just a willingness to have a go.

Everyone can achieve a D of E award, because each D of E programme is a personal challenge, it is not a competition against others. Each participants programme is tailor-made to reflect their own abilities and interests.

There are three levels to the award: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Within each level you complete activities in four sections - Volunteering, Skill, Physical and Expedition, with a fifth Residential section at Gold level.

People do D of E for lots of different reasons. Some do it because their friends are doing it. Others because they think it will help them get a job (and there is no doubt that employers see a D of E award as a pretty impressive achievement), and some do it for the challenge. Whatever the reason, everyone that completes an award knows that they have achieved something special - and they had a lot of fun along the way.
