Potholes

The Highways & Transportation section maintains most roads within the County with the exception of trunk roads. The trunk roads in Herefordshire are the A49, A465 South of Hereford City, A40 and M50 motorway.

Each road is regularly inspected and maintained to a set standard, which is defined by the character of the road and the expected traffic use. Offices located in Hereford manage highway maintenance works.

Major carriageway defects will be repaired or made safe within one working day of them having been inspected by the Council following notification from a member of the public.

We will maintain principal, distributor and access roads in an appropriately maintained condition, having regard to the character of the road and the traffic expected to use it.

To report a highway defect please contact the StreetScene hotline on (01432) 261800 or by emailing streets@herefordshire.gov.uk. Please include as much detail about the location and nature of the defect as possible.
