Street Lighting

The Street Lighting Service is provided to the county through Amey Herefordshire. The service is responsible for the 12,500 Street and Amenity lights, as well as illuminated road traffic signs, school flashers, belisha beacons and bollards. All lighting is checked throughout the county by an inspection regime that takes approximately ten days. All defects reported are then scheduled to be repaired within 5 days.

All lights are maintained on a three year equipment rolling programme with signs maintained annually.  Both lights and signs have an annual cleaning schedule, with bollards cleaned every two months. Also, all lights, signs and bollards have cyclical 72 month electrical and structural visual checks.

The Street Lighting Service also prepares plans and provides information for new lighting schemes, and gives advice on any street lighting queries.

Members of the public are able to report defective lighting by contacting the free 'Lights Out Line' on 0800 7835675, or contacting Streetscene on 01432 261800 or emailing streets@herefordshire.gov.uk.

To enable accurate fault logging the following information needs to be provided: Street name, Point /Column number, Location and Description of the fault, along with your name and contact number.
