The Council has agreed with bus operators seven dates in each year when bus times can change. Two of these dates coincide with the agreed dates for changes to the national rail timetable. The Council will publish new editions of its Area Bus and Train Timetable, or Updates to existing editions, on these dates.

The National Rail Timetable runs from the second Sunday in December each year, in line with railways in the rest of Europe. Changes to each year's timetable can be introduced on the third Sunday in May each year. The current timetable was introduced on 18th May, 2008 and will run until 13th December 2008, although there will be some changes to weekend services from 14th September.
