About the LTP

The Local Transport Plan is a statutory plan which sets out the Council's transport policies and programme of transport improvements for a five year period.

The first Local Transport Plan was introduced in July 2000 to cover the period 2001/2 to 2005/6. It replaced the old Transport Policies and Programme (TPP) and introduced a new emphasis on longer term transport planning and a shift in national policy in favour of providing sustainable transport improvements. The Council has also published Annual Progress Reports (APRs) providing a summary of transport improvements for the County. National Government has progressively developed transport policy since the first LTP's and now provides detailed guidance on most areas of transport provision. For further information on national transport policy please click on the Department for Transport link below.
