Sustainable travel

Herefordshire Council, through its Local Transport Plan, is committed to developing an integrated, sustainable transport system for Herefordshire, recognising that our present car culture is unsustainable, damaging to the quality of life in the county and to the environment, and costly to business. We are committed to delivering 'a general shift towards more sustainable and healthy modes of travel, such as walking, cycling and public transport, and away from single occupancy car use'.

Measures to encourage sustainable travel include:

• Business travel plans
• School travel plans
• Car sharing
• Child and adult cycle training
• Raising awareness and supporting and promoting events
