Herefordshire Information and Research Network (HIRN)
Are you a researcher, information gatherer or an information user? If so, our meetings are likely to be of interest to you.

HIRN has been established by Herefordshire Council Research Team to provide a forum for anyone engaged in research and information gathering activities within any of the Partner organisations to share knowledge and expertise. We hope that people will 'drop into' the Network by attending those meetings that are of particular interest to them. The meetings are open to anyone (regardless of position) but you will need to let us know if you plan to attend; places will be allocated to those who book first.

Research

The Research Team provides expertise and support for a wide range of groups and organisations throughout Herefordshire. We have a mix of skills and experience enabling us to produce high quality analysis on a range of themes that is used for informing policy decisions, monitoring performance and providing evidence for funding bids.

The team provides a research and statistical advice service for Herefordshire Council and the Herefordshire Partnership . Information is provided to local service providers, voluntary and community organisations as well as businesses, students and members of the community. Discussion with these groups ensures that our research is focused and effective.

Data is collected from a wide range of sources and datasets covering various geographical levels e.g. national, regional, county, ward, parish. The team is responsible for carrying out surveys on residents' satisfaction, housing needs, young people's lifestyles, employee opinions and also those involving Herefordshire Voice (citizens' panel). Data we collect covers a variety of themes including population, housing, the economy and social aspects.

Analysis is disseminated through Quarterly Economic Reports, an annual State of Herefordshire report, online, via meetings with stakeholder groups and through HIRN (Herefordshire Information and Research Network). We also provide information in response to requests (for policies, funding bids, projects, parish plans and area profiles).

Our expertise allows us to advise on survey and questionnaire design as well as on all aspects of data collection, analysis and interpretation of statistics.

We usually know where you can get hold of other statistics even if we don't hold them in this office!
