Exploring the Countryside...be prepared!

[Photo of woman putting on walking boots] It is essential to ensure you are prepared to face the elements when exploring the countryside and suitable clothing and footwear should be worn or carried in your rucksack.

During the colder months, or when walking in the mountains it is advisable to carry waterproofs, and don’t forget that in the winter you may need extra warm clothing and in the summer you may need sun protection.

It is not advisable to wear jeans and denim, as they are cold and heavy when wet and are unlikely to dry out while you are walking!

Always carry a bottle of water in your rucksack, as it is easy to become dehydrated when walking.
