Queenswood Country Park

The park is open daily, dawn-dusk and has free parking.

At Queenswood Country Park & Arboretum you will find...

  • 67 acre tree collection (arboretum) with over 500 rare and exotic trees in an attractive parkland setting.
  • 103 acres of semi natural ancient woodland designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and Local Nature Reserve (LNR).
  • Herefordshire Council Parks, Countryside & Leisure Development Service Office
  • Seasonal Tourist Information Centre open daily from 10.00am to 4.30pm between Easter and Christmas Eve for information and accommodation bookings, with gifts and Queenswood merchandise on sale.
  • Licensed Cafe in restored timber framed building, serving snacks, ice creams and hot meals. The opening times may vary so please contact the proprietor to book a table or check the cafe will be open during your visit. Tel. 01568 797880.
  • Toilets including a disabled toilet and baby changing facilities (open approx. 9am -5pm daily).
  • Easy access paths and waymarked trails. For more information get a copy of the Queenswood Guide available in the Tourist Information Centre.
  • Electric mobility vehicles. Three vehicles are available for hire to help you explore the park - to book them please contact the Tourist Information Centre. Tel. 01568 797842
  • View point with panoramic views from the Malvern Hills in the east across to the Black Mountains in the west.
  • Picnic facilities
  • Woodland children's play area.

Please note that at Queenswood no cycling or horseriding is permitted around the Country Park.

Sunday 19th October 2008
Autumn Colour Walks
2pm - 3.30pm
In autumn the trees are ablaze with colour and at Queenswood you can spot some spectacular sights, especially in the Autumn Garden. The foliage of the Japanese Maples (Acer palmatum) change to brilliant vermillions, purples, yellows and oranges. Discover these and the other eye-catching autumn displays by joining a guided walk led by one of the Countryside Ranger Team.
Distance: Approx 1.5 miles
Meet: Outside the Tourist Information Centre at Queenswood
Cost: Free, though a donation to the Queenswood Coronation Fund would be welcomed.

Bertie Buzzard's Autumn Trail 2008
Throughout the half term holidays
Join Bertie Buzzard and his friends the Queenswood Seeds this autumn to find out how they find a new place to settle down and grow into a plant.
Cost: 50p Entry forms available from Queenswood Tourist Information Centre.

Saturday 25th October 2008
Queenswood Fungus Walk
10am -12.15pm
Join us for a saturday morning walk through Queenswood Arboretum enjoying the lovely autumn colours and learning about the wealth of fungi to be found there, led by local field mycologist Sheila Spence.
See if you can find 'Candlesnuff' and 'Cramp Balls' or even a 'Jelly Fungus' along the way and learn about why fungi are such an important part of our environment.
Not suitable for children under the age of 12, all children must be accompanied by an adult who is responsible for their safety at all times.
Cost: Adults £3.50
Children (over 12 only) £2.00
Family ticket 2 adults + 2 children (over 12) £10.00

Nature Play Rangers: Spooky Halloween Fun
12 noon - 2pm
Join the Nature Play Rangers - we're going spooky for halloween!
Create scary masks and lanterns... make a spooky apple head...
create a gigantic monster... play ghoolish games!
Please wear sensible shoes and clothing as this activity will take place outdoors.
Meet: Autumn Garden
Cost: This session is free.
No need to book - just come and join us in the Autumn Garden anytime between 12noon and 2pm.
All children must be accompanied by an adult

Queenswood Fungus Walk
