Countryside service

The Countryside Team manage Queenswood Country Park, Bodenham Lake, the County's Countryside Sites and Picnic Places and six Local Nature Reserves.

They work in partnership with various national organisations such as the Natural England, DEFRA and the Forestry Commission as well as local groups such as Herefordshire Commons Project and Herefordshire Action for Mammals.

James Bisset, Principal Countryside Officer
James runs the Landscape Enhancement Grant Scheme and the Fruit Tree Kit Scheme and co-ordinates the management of projects at the Countryside sites. He is also the lead officer on AONB's, is a Registered Bat Roost Visitor and champion of locally distinctive orchards and fruit varieties.

Paul Tomkins, Senior Ranger
Paul co-ordinates the management of the countryside picnic sites across the county and is also a key contact for deer-related issues in Herefordshire.

Paul Ratcliffe, Countryside Ranger
Paul R. co-ordinates the management of Queenswood Country Park including the Arboretum trees and SSSI woodland. Also co-ordinates the Sponsor a Tree scheme at Queenswood on behalf of the Queenswood Coronation Fund.

Trevor Hulme, Countryside Ranger
Trevor co-ordinates the management of a number of Local Nature Reserves and oversees conservation initiatives and survey work at a range of Council owned sites. He's also involved in project work relating to Commons in the County..
