Investigating our local area: using aerial photographs
This session uses fantastic resources such as original Roman
artefacts and top quality replicas to help children find out about
Romans locally.
Children will:
- Become trainee archaeologists
- Excavate pieces of broken pottery and rebuild a pot in
teams
- Explore an aerial photograph of Kenchester Roman town and
an artists illustration of the site
- Identify original Roman pottery
- Grind herbs in a mortaria and decipher Roman writing on a
wax tablet
- Dress their teacher in a toga
