Community outreach and loans resources
Heritage Services has recreational learning sessions for adults at sites and in the community. We work with community groups to develop resources, such as loan boxes, and with other organisations to reach out into the local community.
Community heritage staff can bring museum resources direct to you in Herefordshire. We can provide reminiscence sessions for local people or loan out boxes of artefacts to communities to run their own reminiscence sessions. Loans boxes are developed using the hundreds of artefacts in the Museum services' handling collection: all these objects can be loaned out to community organisations or individuals for use within the Herefordshire community.

Covering a wide range of history, from geological times to the diversity of communities found in Herefordshire today the handling collection has something for everyone.
Reminiscence boxes are collections of artefacts specially designed to encourage and promote reminiscence. Remembering the past is something that people of all ages can enjoy- you don't have to be over 65 to enjoy these resources but it may help. These loan boxes can be borrowed on their own or perhaps you would like the support of community heritage staff to get your first reminiscence session going!
Go on a journey of discovery with loans boxes: Discovery boxes are designed to give an introduction to a particular subject from Rural life to Health and Medicine. These boxes are ideal for use by adult learning groups, some items may be unsuitable for use with children.
Cultural Roots suitable for all members of the community from the youngest to the eldest. These boxes cover a range of topics such as New Year traditions, Weddings, or the first peoples to settle in Herefordshire and explore the cultural roots of Herefordshire. £5 per box, each box comes with an interpretation panel.
