Hereford Library

Hereford Library will mark National Libraries Day with performances by poets Roz Goddard and Adam Horovitz and writer Tiffany Murray. Roz Goddard, former Birmingham Poet Laureate and new co-ordinator of the West Midlands Readers Network, will begin proceedings at 11.30am with some of her poetry, she will then introduce local author Tiffany Murray. Tiffany is the author of Happy Accidents and Diamond Star Halo and a well loved author at the Hay Festival. Tiffany spent much of her childhood at Hereford library reading avidly. In the afternoon from 2pm the poet Adam Horovitz  will be talking about his love for libraries and will perform some of his poignant and beautiful poetry. Tickets are free but spaces are limited, contact Hereford Library on 01432 383600 to book your place in advance.

Ross Library

Friends and supporters of Ross Library and Customer Services Centre are invited to join popular local authors Phil Rickman, Rebecca Tope, Caro Peacock, Quentin Letts and Jon and Heather Hurley in celebrating the official opening of the refurbished centre.  Work from Herefordshire's Young Poet Laureates will be on display and Bookstart bear will be at a special storytime for under 5s at 2pm. The celebrations kick off from 11.30am on National Libraries Day - Saturday 4th February,  with the official opening at noon and all friends and supporters are welcome.

Leominster and Leintwardine Libraries

Leominster Library will be launching its new friends group on Thursday 26th January at 7.30pm with the local authors Caro Peacock and Rebecca Tope.
On Saturday 4 February there will be a chance to win a Phil Rickman signed paperback, all you have to do is fill in a postcard telling us what you love about your library and enter the prize draw.

The newly refurbished Leintwardine Library will be having an official opening on National Libraries Day - Saturday 4th February 10am - noon

Writing Squads

Writing Squads at Hereford Library

Writing Squads are for budding young writers that want to develop their writing skills and have lots of fun too. If you love to write, stories, poems, articles or even tweets then this is the group for you. The Writing Squads are led by professional writer Brenda Read-Brown, with support from writer Deborah Alma. The groups meet monthly on Saturdays from 9.30am - 11.30am (8 - 10 year olds) 11.45am - 1.45pm (11-12 year olds) and 2pm to 4pm (13-16 year olds). The dates for sessions in 2012 are 25th Feb, 24th March 28th April, 26th May, 16th June. The sessions cost £5 and it is essential to reserve a place in advance as some of these sessions are full - please contact Joanne Penn at Writing West Midlands on 0121 246 2774 or joanne@writingwestmidlands.org.

The Hereford Write On Writing Squads is a project of Writing West Midlands in association with Herefordshire Libraries.

 

Wargaming Sessions

Games workshop session at Ross Library

Wargaming Workshops

Play the games, paint your miniatures and meet fellow gamers at our Wargaming Workshops. Suitable for new or experienced gamers aged 10-18. Regular Games Workshops take place at Hereford Library every Friday, at Ross Library  once a month,  and at Leominster Library every other Wednesday. All sessions run from 5pm-7pm. These workshops are free, but please book in advance to guarantee a place.
