The Books on Prescription Scheme is a very effective way of helping people with common mental health problems, such as anxiety, depression, phobias and eating disorders.
A proven self-help book is prescribed by a GP or other health professional. The book can then be borrowed free of charge from any Herefordshire public library.
There is first class clinical evidence to show that books can be just as effective as other forms of therapy - and with the advantage of having no side effects.
These books can be borrowed by anyone, you do not need to have a prescription, you only need to join the library. Joining the library is easy, it can be done using our or just pop into your nearest library and fill in a simple form, there is no need to show any documents.
If you have borrowed one of these books and found it useful please let us know or if you have any comments about this scheme please fill in this brief
