Working in partnership for the people of Herefordshire

Parents and carers

Mother and baby enjoying book In addition to the wonderful books for adults and children that we have in our libraries, we also hold a special section for parents and carers.

Books in this section cover many aspects of parenthood and childcare, from health issues, breastfeeding, information on food and nutrition and behaviour to organising children’s parties and building dens in the garden!

They can be easily found but please don’t hesitate to ask a member of library staff for any help you may need.

It is also worth knowing that you are never too young to join the library. We aim to encourage a love of reading in children as early as possible, and regularly give babies library cards. We stock a variety of picture and board books and do not charge children under 5 years of age any fines or replacement charges for lost or damaged books. You can even join in the Bookstart Book Crawl and collect lovely illustrated certificates. Just ask at the library counter for more information.

Childminders

Childminders are also encouraged to use our collections. Simply join in the usual way, mention to library staff that you are a childminder and we will give you a special ticket that will enable you to borrow up to 20 books for 6 weeks with no fines.
