Joining and using the library
How do I join the library?
If you are 16 or over just complete the online membership form.Your joining pack, including your library card, will be posted out to you within a few days. You can also join at any of our local libraries. Once you've received your card you can access all our services. If used regularly, your card is valid for life.

What are the benefits of joining the library?
- You can borrow 12 books for 3 weeks
- You can borrow 12 talking books for 3 weeks
- You can hire 6 music CDs, DVDs and PlayStation and Wii games
- Free computer and broadband Internet access
- Free request service for items in the Herefordshire library catalogue
- Self-service photocopying
- You can make suggestions for stock by filling in a suggestion slip at your local library
- Requests for titles not on the Herefordshire catalogue can be made via our inter library loans service
- You can use our music score ordering service
Please note: not all services are available at all sites.

Is there anything to pay?
- Books are loaned free of charge
- Books not in the Herefordshire catalogue can be requested and a charge is made for this
- There is a hire charge for music CDs, DVDs, talking books and PlayStation and Wii games
- Fees are charged for overdue books depending on the borrower card type
- There are replacement charges for lost or damaged items (these do not apply for under 5s)
- Payment can be made by cash or cheques at any library, some libraries can take card payments - for more details, see the Library Charges document in the resources box on the right

How do I renew books?
- You can renew books twice in person, on the telephone or online provided that they are not already requested
- If one of your items has been requested by another reader you will be given an additional 48 hours to return the item before incurring any charges
