Friends of the Master's House (Ledbury)

The Friends of the Master's House was formed in January 2008. The Friends of the Master's House exist to raise the profile of the Master's House in the community and to encourage it use in the future. The group are supporting the development of the Master's House by giving volunteer time and support, particularly around the development of an application for funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The Heritage Lottery fund have awarded Herefordshire Council £39,300 to further develop the Masters House project, with a view to submitting a stage 2 application requesting funding for the restoration of the medieval sections of the building and for a range of heritage based learning and participation activities.

The Friends are working with Herefordshire Council and a company called PLB Consulting (heritage consultants) and other local heritage providers to develop a range of documents and plans for the Masters House in order to gain a clearer understanding of how the building will be used for heritage in the future and what type of heritage activities might be of interest to local schools, the community and to visitors to Ledbury. In addition to a heritage offer, the building will also provide community meeting spaces, a public library and office accommodation for both statutory and voluntary organisations in Ledbury.

Plans are currently being made to carry out some community consultation and a range of dates and times will be advertised across Ledbury once they have been set.
