Disabled customers
Large print and talking books are available at all libraries. All Libraries have hearing loops fitted. All libraries have membership forms in Braille, large print, on cassette and on CD. If you need any help filling in a form, or would like the form in another format, please do not hesitate to contact a member of staff who will be happy to help.Carers tickets
Registered carers are able to obtain a concessionary library ticket through adult social services which allows them to have items for longer and without charges or fines for overdue items.
Access tickets
All libraries can issue an access card for disabled customers and those who have difficulty using the main book collection, e.g. those with dyslexia. There are no hire charges and no fines for overdue items.
Services for the visually impaired
In addition to being eligible for an access ticket, visually impaired and blind customers may find the following services useful. MyReader auto-readers in Hereford, Leominster and Ross libraries-a low vision reader with features which enable those with low vision to read books at their ease. ScannaR System in Hereford library - a scanner which will scan and read back text documents, letters, brochures, newspapers, reports and other print materials.
Delivery services to your own home
We provide a home delivery service for people who cannot visit a town or village library or one of the mobile library stops. We contact the customer and talk about the kind of books and materials they would like and then a selection of books and other items is delivered to them and regularly exchanged by library staff or volunteers. Services to residential homes and nursing homes
This is a free service to those who live in care (such as residential homes, nursing homes and some sheltered housing schemes). Collections of books for use by all residents are provided on an exchange basis by arrangement with the manager of the home for use by all residents. Collections are delivered via the library delivery van. For more information please phone 01432 260645.
Other specialist information and services
Some libraries have height adjustable workstations for working on the Public Computers. The access software Dolphin Supernova is available at Hereford, Leominster and Ross. Disabled users may find Herefordshire ABLE a useful source of information on a wide range of subject areas. We maintain strong links with this organisation and recommend their website as the first port of call in seeking information on local services and related organisations.
