Borderlines Aims and Priorities

With a vision to be an exemplary festival that inspires and renews in rural audiences a passion for film in all its richness and variety, Borderlines Film Festival's mission is to  bring to life the diverse world of film for the people of rural West Midlands. Working with existing venues and interest groups - in arts centres, village halls or the back rooms of pubs - Borderlines offers and exhilarating, international programme of screenings, talks by film makers and participatory events. From the undiscovered film to the global success, Borderlines presents work that is of high quality, embraces diversity, explores rurality, promotes the local film industry and encourages debate and learning.

Borderline's Values:

  • Quality: programming the best films and film makers
  • Diversity: offering mainstream and marginal, old and new, local and international
  • Education and Lifelong Learning: encouraging debate and participation in workshops, discussions and seminars
  • Rural issues: exploring the changing landscape of the countryside and the impact of national and global developments on local communities
  • Access: giving access to all to appreciate a range of films that would not otherwise be available to them, reaching out to isolated communities and communities of interest

Borderline's Aims:

  • To build upon the existing artistic programme
  • To expand the educational and outreach programme
  • To develop a financially stable and sustainable organisation
  • To deepen and expand the audience base
  • To boost the Festival's profile regionally and nationally, and reach out to out-of-county audiences
  • To further develop the organisation's potential through its systems, people and partnerships
