Brief description of organisation
The Ledbury Poetry Festival organises a wide range of readings, talks, workshops, and community events, including an annual summer festival over 10 days in early July every year. This is Britain’s biggest poetry festival and is described by Poet Laureate Andrew Motion as “the best in the country”.  It features national and international performers, and provides a platform for new as well as establishes poets, writers and commentators.

The Festival also holds a year round programme of literature development in the community, involving local primary schools, older people, and the mentally distressed.  It also hosts the Talking Poetry sessions at The Brewery in Ledbury, and holds the Poetry Café at The Courtyard in Hereford.

The Festival also runs a prestigious international poetry competition which is judged by the Poet in Residence (Don Paterson in 2006).
