Archive Service Reader Tickets

To enable you to make use of any of the facilities available at the Herefordshire Record Office you will need a CARN (County Archive Research Network) reader ticket.

This can be issued free of charge on production of proof of identity, which should include your name and current address (i.e. a driving licence, utility bill or official letter). This ticket is valid for four years and may be used at other offices in the CARN scheme. A list of these offices is available in the resource box on the right. If you already have one, be sure to bring it with you.

If your ticket has expired we will issue a new one providing you have other appropriate identification. The old ticket is not sufficient for this.

People under 18 years of age should bring what identification they have, and they will also require an adult to accompany them on their first visit, to vouch for them, in order that they may obtain a CARN ticket.  The accompanying adult should bring the required identification.

Please note that without a ticket you will not be able to make use of any of our facilities.
