Experiencing World War II
Using a variety of records, Record Office staff will give pupils an idea of what life was like in wartime Herefordshire with problems such as rationing, air raid shelters, evacuees and children taken out of school to help in food production. Pupils will also work through practical problems such as how to cope with an influx of evacuees or plan for a wartime wedding.
This session can be linked with interviews with people from your own area who lived through the war and can give eye-witness accounts and the Record Office can supply contact details for interviewees if they are needed.
