The Coming of the Railways

Learn about transport before railways - then how to finance, plan and build a railway, looking at examples from the county. Find out about the dangers and successes and the changes which the railways brought.

Children will take part in activities including planning celebrations for the opening of the railway, writing a prospectus for would-be investors and writing letters home from railway workers.
