The lion in the image is the logo of the Friends of Herefordshire Record Office who own the copyright and is shown with their kind permission.
The group was formed by users of the office who wanted to support the work of the office in a number of ways.
During the last year The Friends have contributed to the purchase of, or bought, the following documents and items:
Herefordshire Record Office would like to thank them for their continued support.
The current project is that of raising money to fund the replacement of the most badly damaged of the microfilms. The parish register and census films particularly, are very well used and consequently get worn out. Some of them unfortunately, are only held together by the repair tape!
If you would like to help with a donation, it would be greatly appreciated. Please make cheques payable to The Friends of Herefordshire Record Office. As you can see from the above list, twenty have been replaced already, but there are still some damaged ones left!
Membership is open to all those interested in our local archives. There are regular group meetings and members receive a quarterly newsletter with articles, news and information about records. A programme of talks and outside visits is arranged throughout the year along with social evenings.
