Parchment

Views of parchment The image is of three pieces of parchment:
  • a piece that has been well cared for,
  • and one that hasn't!
  • and the damaged piece after conservation

Special Tips for Parchment Documents

Don't allow any dampness/humidity near them because the parchment will become very weak and soft, and stretch, which may cause the writing to flake off.

Do keep in constant low temperatures so that the parchment doesn't expand or contract.

Don't allow any direct sunlight onto parchment because it will fade the writing and the heat will make the parchment brittle.
