Record Office Diary
We aim to keep you up to date with all that's happening in the Archive Service, so here's a list of any closures as well as activities and events planned to date:
Please remember that with effect from 1st June 2009, the Record Office will be closed to the public on Mondays.
January 2010
Tuesday 5th January until 26th March
There will be an exhibition of the photographs of Richard Jenkins in the Record Office entrance hall. You will be able to see a selection of images from this recently acquired collection.
March 2010
30th March - 8th May
There will be an exhibition from the Webb Share project about the work of the local astronomer William Webb, which can be seen in the Record Office entrance hall between March and May.
During March
As part of the events to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the publication of Speed's map of Hereford, there will be:

A talk by Jenny Bartlett showing how modern mapmakers use technology to aid their drawing of maps.
April 2010
Friday 2nd April
The Record Office will be closed for Good Friday.
Thursday 8th April
'Saxton, Speed and Early Map Makers'
A talk by Brian Smith to be held in the Record Office at 7.30pm.
There will also be a display of original maps from the Herefordshire Record Office collections.
Saturday 10th AprilThe Record Office will be open to the public 9.15 a.m. to 4.45 p.m.
During April
There is to be the launch of a competition to create a piece of artwork inspired by the 1610 map of Hereford by John Speed. There will also be a workshop day giving background information and taster sessions.

This is a further event to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the publication of Speed's map of Hereford.

July 2010
Saturday 10th July
The Record Office will be open to the public 9.15 a.m. to 4.45 p.m.
Another event to mark the life of John speed, 16th century mapmaker will be a children's competition to decorate houses inspired by those shown on Speed's map of Hereford in 1610.

We will re-open as usual on Tuesday 7th December.
