Closing Date

The closing date will be stated in the advertisement. If you are posting your entry, please ensure that you return your completed form to the address stated before the closing date. If you are completing the form online the deadline will be midnight on the closing date. Late applications will not normally be considered.

Interviews

The interview date may be stated in the advertisement. Interviews are normally carried out within 4-6 weeks of the closing date. If you have not heard from us within this time, please assume that your application has been unsuccessful. Shortlisted applicants will receive written confirmation of the interview arrangements. The Council will pay reasonable expenses for candidates attending interview. Please enquire about this with the interviewing officer.

Medical

Before any employment with the Council is confirmed you will be required to complete a pre-employment medical questionnaire which you will return to the Council's Occupational Health Unit to determine whether or not you are medically fit to undertake the duties of the post. A subsequent medical examination may be necessary in certain cases.

Disclosures

If you are selected for a post that carries a requirement for a disclosure (under the provisions of the Police Act, 1997), the Council will require you to give permission to carry out a disclosure. Full details of what this means are included in the Guidance for Completion of the Disclosure application form.

Application Form

The information you provide will be used to determine whether or not you are invited for interview. The shortlisting process is undertaken by assessing the information you provide against the requirements detailed on the person specification.

Filling in the application form is your chance to show how well you meet the needs of the job, therefore, please complete the form fully and carefully. If you are an internal applicant, please remember that you need to provide a complete application. You will not be treated any differently from external applicants.

Please note: To use the Online Application service you must be running Microsoft Internet Explorer v5.0 or later. If you do not have IE5.0+, click on the link at the foot of this page to search the Microsoft Site for the latest version for download.

You cannot currently use the Online Application system with other browsers such as Firefox, Opera, Safari and Netscape. The service is also unavailable for Mac computers even if you use Internet Explorer on it.
