Work placements with Herefordshire Archaeology

Herefordshire Archaeology can offer up to four work experience placements per academic year. These can take place at any time of the year, subject to your school's agreement and the availability of Herefordshire Archaeology staff. The minimum length of a placement will be three days, but we prefer placements to last for five days, to allow students to experience as wide a range of our work as possible.

Applying for a placement

To apply for a placement, write to the County Archaeologist, Dr. Keith Ray, at Herefordshire Council, Blueschool House, Blueschool Street, Hereford, HR1 2ZB. You can also e-mail him at kray@herefordshire.gov.uk. In your letter, explain why you are interested in doing work experience with Herefordshire Archaeology, and what you hope to get out of the placement. Suitable candidates will be invited to our offices for an introductory meeting, so that you can get a better idea of what we have to offer. The placements will be offered to the most suitable and committed candidates.
