Outside Hereford, the key theme is ‘Rural Regeneration’ and it is very important that the role of the Market Towns and their relationship with the surrounding rural areas is developed in a manner consistent with the Sustainable Community Strategy. Consequently, the Market Towns and Rural Areas Plan will set out spatial planning policies required for the market towns and the wider rural areas.
Pending its preparations and adoption, the policies and proposals of the UDP will provide the basis for planning control on these areas, together with the RSS and national planning policies.
The first consultation stage of the Market Towns and Rural Areas Plan will be ‘Place Shaping’ Consultation that is due to take place in early 2010. This consultation will incorporate further options for Core Strategy and the ‘Issues’ stage of the Hereford Area Plan and the Market Towns and Rural Areas Plan.
It is anticipated that the Market Towns and Rural Area Plan will be adopted in August 2013.
