Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA)

A Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) has been prepared as part of the council's LDF evidence base. The SHLAA assesses the potential availability of land for housing across Herefordshire up to the end of the plan period, and explores any constraints that might affect their suitability, achievability or availability for development.  The study, which has been based upon Hereford, the market towns and the most sustainable rural settlements (Rural Settlement Hierarchy Background Paper November 2010), identifies both brownfield and greenfield opportunities.

SHLAA Second Review 2012

The second annual update to Herefordshire's SHLAA (March 2012) is now available.  The update identifies new potential housing sites, and takes account of new information in respect of the sites identified in both the original SHLAA (October 2009) and the SHLAA First Review, published in January 2011.  The information gathered as part of the update was added to new data on housing completions and sites with planning permission in order to build a comprehensive and accurate picture of housing delivery in future years.  The second update, together with its appendices is available to view by clicking on the links in the resources box.

Further information can be obtained by emailing ldf@herefordshire.gov.uk.

Future reviews of Herefordshire's SHLAA

The SHLAA presents a snapshot in time of potential housing sites.  It is a 'live document' which is regularly updated as more information or evidence about each site becomes known or further sites come forward for assessment.  A SHLAA Review will be published on an annual basis to reflect changes.

How to bring potential housing sites to Herefordshire Council's attention
