Polytunnels Supplementary Planning Document

The increased use of large-scale polytunnels across many parts of the Herefordshire countryside for soft fruit production has led the Council to decide that a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) was required to provide detailed planning guidance on the development of polytunnels. This will give advice on the relevant planning issues that will need to be addressed as part of the planning application process.

Following publication of an Issues Paper in July 2007 and a draft document in June 2008, the Council on the 5th of December 2008 adopted a final version of the SPD. The document replaces the Council's voluntary Code of Practice to control polytunnels, which had been suspended.
