Statement of Community Involvement (SCI)

The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out how and when the Council will involve you in the preparation of planning documents. It will form a Local Development Document within the newly established Local Development Framework.

The revised Statement of Community Involvement has now been considered by the Planning Inspectorate. The Inspector issued a binding report to the Council in February 2007 with an assessment of the tests of soundness of the SCI and recommendations as to how the document must be changed.

The Council considered the Inspector's report on the 22nd March 2007 and decided to adopt the SCI as recommended. An Adoption Statement has now been issued and this sets out the period in which any legal challenge to the adoption of the SCI must be made. The Statement also sets out where copies of the Inspector's Report and the Adopted version of the SCI can be inspected.

The Inspectors Report, the Adoption Statement and the adopted SCI are available in the Resources box below, together with the Consultation Statement which sets out how local communities and others were involved in the preparation of the document.
