Introduction

The Planning Service is led by Andrew Ashcroft, Head of Planning Services.

The environment around us requires careful management to ensure that development is sustainable.  The Council has responsibilities for preparing the local development framework, development control, building control, enforcement, and is also concerned with public rights of way, common land and biodiversity.

In this section you will find further details of these planning services, together with frequently asked questions and downloadable planning guidance.

In addition, users can view all documents (forms, plans etc) for planning applications registered since 25th November 2005, through UK Planning (See external links box for current Herefordshire on line planning applications).

The Council has a statutory duty to control the development and use of land and buildings within its boundaries.

Planning legislation sets out the legal framework for planning decisions and the development control section co-ordinates this process.  The main objective of the section is to manage the development and use of land in order to help protect the amenity and environment of the County, while promoting high quality, sustainable development.
