Bulky Items

Herefordshire Council encourages the reuse of furniture and electrical items. There are a number of organisations across the county who will collect good condition furniture and unwanted electrical items from you. For more information please see our 'A guide to reuse' leaflet available at Info Shops or visit the waste mission impossible website

Herefordshire Council also operates a service for the removal of bulky items of household waste. This service is available to householders within Herefordshire only. It is not available to commercial businesses.

Free standing bulky domestic items or appliances which exceed 25 kilograms in weight or which do not fit or cannot be fitted into a domestic bin fall under this collection service. Please note, only items which can be lifted by a maximum of 2 people will be collected. Please see list below for examples of acceptable and unacceptable items.

The service is intended for free standing items such as furniture, cookers, washing machines and the like. Items which are part of a houses structure such as doors, windows, storage heaters and large items of garden waste are not classed as household items for the purposes of this service.

The cost for this service is £15.00 for up to three items, additional items are charged at £5.00 per item. Any resident who wishes to take advantage of this service can easily do so by:

  1. Calling the Council on the number listed to the right. We can take your payment immediately by credit or debit card and give you your collection day straight away.
  2. Visit one of the Council Info offices where you can pay by any method.
  3. Complete the request form available by clicking on the document in the box to the right and return it to the address shown on the form, together with the required payment.

Please note that items to be taken must be identified upon placing the booking or amended not later than 24 hours before collection is due to take place. Any item not listed will not be collected.
