Herefordshire Local Housing Market Assessment (LHMA)

The Herefordshire Local Housing Market Assessment (LHMA) was undertaken during 2010/2011 to identify the housing need and demand within the 7 local housing market areas across the county during 2006-2026.  The document provides evidence to support future housing delivery both for market and affordable housing and makes reference to the previous housing requirement based on the Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS).

The Coalition Government made it clear their intention was to revoke the RSS and turn the responsibilities for determining housing provision to individual local authorities.  As a result the council commissioned a Local Housing Requirements Study which considered housing requirements in Herefordshire for the period 2011-2031.

It should therefore be noted that reference within the LHMA to the RSS and housing delivery will not reflect the current position following the subsequent study.

The council will be seeking to update the LHMA with the revised figures over the coming months to align housing delivery of the proposed Local Development Framework period of 2011-2031.
