Who are we?
We are a team of specialists based at The Kite Centre in Hereford. We support children and families whose lives are affected by disability and/or chronic illness.
- Our team includes:
- Community nurses for sick children
- Community nurses for children with learning disabilities
- Family support workers
- Occupational therapists
- Physiotherapists
- A psychiatrist
- A psychologist
- A respite care team
- Shared care social workers
- Social workers
What do we do?
We assess the needs of your child, family and carers and then agree with you what help is needed. Your child is central to this and might be seen by a number of different specialists based at the Kite Centre.
The help the team gives includes:
- Advice about specialist equipment or adaptations to your home
- Family support/relationship building
- Nursing care for sick children and support for their carers
- Respite care
- Specialist advice, support and guidance
- Supporting children and their parents to develop normal problem solving skills
- Therapy to promote normal movement and function
How do you get help?
You might want to contact us yourself or someone who thinks that we could give help can do so, with your permission.
First we make sure you qualify for our services.
Then, after talking to everyone concerned, we work out how we might help. We won't arrange anything unless you agree.
If your child is not eligible for Kite Centre services, we will try to suggest other places and people who can help.
