What is the Cabinet and who are the Cabinet Members?

Answer:

The Cabinet is appointed annually by the Council and consists of nine cabinet members, including the Leader of the Council and the Deputy Leader, each responsible for a Programme Area as follows:-
  • Corporate Strategy and Finance (Leader - Cllr R J Phillips)
  • Children's Services (Cllr J A Hyde)
  • Economic Development and Community Services (Cllr A J M Blackshaw)
  • ICT, Education and Achievement (Cllr P D Price)
  • Corporate and Customer Services and Human Resources (Cllr J P French)
  • Environment and Strategic Housing (Cllr J G Jarvis)
  • Highways and Transportation (Cllr D B Wilcox)
  • Resources (Cllr H Bramer)
  • Social Care Adults (Cllr O Barnett)

The Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Strategic Monitoring Committee and any Group Leaders not on the Cabinet attend in a non-voting capacity.

All Councillors are kept informed of the proceedings at Cabinet by means of cabinet minutes which are published onto the web once agreed by Cabinet.

Up to date information on items due to be considered by Cabinet can be obtained by contacting Members Services. Copies of Cabinet papers are available at the Cabinet meeting or on request or via the Cabinet section of the website.

The Cabinet usually meets on Thursdays at 2.00 p.m. in the Council Chamber at Brockington. Meetings of the Cabinet are open to all Councillors and the public subject to the usual restrictions when confidential or exempt items are to be discussed.
