What is council tax benefit?
Answer:
There are two types of council tax benefit:- Main council tax benefit is a national means-tested welfare benefit which helps bill payers on a low income with their council tax bill.
- Second Adult Rebate helps single bill payers who have
another low income adult (who is not their partner) in their
home and, as a result, lose their 25% single person discount.
This rebate is based on the income of the "other adult" and not
the bill payer.
