Frequently Asked Questions

Question:

Does Herefordshire Council ever consult with Council Taxpayers over the levels of council tax increases?

Answer:

Herefordshire Council does consult with the taxpayers. Consultations have been varied and improved over the life of the Council.

However, attendance and participation at meetings is small in the context of the total number of Council taxpayers. Those who participate tend to be enthusiastic for particular levels of service pressing for higher investment as opposed to pressing for lower levels of services.

Council Tax road shows have been held in each market town and the city. A more detailed and in depth survey is currently being carried out to inform the budget setting process for future years.
