Unfortunately, fly tippers are indiscriminate about where they tip and often will dump rubbish on private land. This typically includes agricultural land, bridleways on private land, woodlands and private car parks. The council will clear any waste on the highway and its verges/lay-bys and also any other land in its ownership.
However, it is the duty of the landowner to clear any fly tipped waste on private land. When tipping has occurred on private land we suggest that the owner either arranges clearance via a reputable waste disposal contractor (with the necessary 'waste carrier' documentation) or that you take it free of charge yourself to one of the council's household waste sites.
Be aware that you will need to provide a permit if using a trailer, pick-up or commercial vehicle to take it to the tip. If we have visited the site, Environmental Health & Trading Standards can verify that the waste is not commercial, therefore allowing it to be disposed of with a permit, if you feel this will help/be required at the household waste site.
