The Research Team commissions and conducts a number of surveys to supply recognised data needs or fulfil statutory requirements, as well as helping to run surveys for other Council departments and community organisations, and maintaining a citizens' panel known as Herefordshire Voice.
Research conducted with minority groups (Herefordshire 100) can be found on the minority groups research page.
Research conducted with children and young people, for example the Youth Survey and the Every Child Matters Survey, can be found on the children and young people research page.
In the spring of 2010 the Research Team commissioned a survey of employers, including both the public and private sector, covering topics such as business outlook; markets and international trade; business networking; access to broadband; and sustainability. For more details and the survey report please see the Herefordshire Employers' Survey page.
Reports of local and regional surveys containing information relating to Herefordshire are available to download in the boxes at the bottom of this page. Individual reports will have contact details within them, but for general queries, please email researchteam@herefordshire.gov.uk or call 01432 383615.
The Research Team is not directly involved with every survey Herefordshire Council carries out; details of all the Council's surveys can be found on the consultation database.
In the autumn of 2008, we carried out the Herefordshire quality of life survey, which is part of a statutory national survey known as the “Place Survey”. Every council in England is required to carry out this survey every two years, following guidance set out by central government. This survey has replaced the BVPI General Survey, which was also known as the Herefordshire Satisfaction Survey. The resources box below contains the full survey report as well as a summary of the headline figures.
Both the Herefordshire quality of life survey reports published below contain national comparisons where these are available, and were re-published in February 2010 to incorporate further national data that was not available at the time of original publication. In addition, national data as published by the Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG) can be found on the CLG website.

These survey reports were re-published in February 2010 to incorporate further national data released by the Department for Communities and Local Government in September 2009.
Strategic Options Consultation
Research commissioned by the council and PCT to find out residents' views on possible spending priorities. Respondents were asked to choose, within a limited budget, between examples of the kind of choices that the organisations face in the future.
