Frequently Asked Questions

Question:

What can we expect from the Council to help improve air quality?

Answer:

Herefordshire Council will monitor pollution across the county and will review and assess this data. Every year we will release an annual report interpreting what we find and every third year we will fully review and assess this data, following government guidance.

All these reports are made available on the web, together with the data found. For further information see the Air quality section.

Air quality is a material planning consideration and therefore planning applications in hotspot areas have regards to this. Also, the consequences of air pollution are taken into account in the Council’s Local Transport Plans.
