Frequently Asked Questions

Question:

Does Herefordshire have any hotspot areas of air pollution?

Answer:

Hotspot areas tend to be where there are high flows of traffic. When this traffic is stop-start, the pollution worsens and when there is a high percentage of HGVs and buses it worsens still.

Herefordshire Council has found elevated areas of nitrogen dioxide alongside housing close to the A49 in Hereford, near the Bargates junction in Leominster and along the A40 corridor in south Herefordshire.

For further information see the Air Quality section.
