Grants for Insulation

Warm Front

Warm Front is a government-funded scheme that provides grants to make your home warmer, healthier and more energy efficient. They provide funding towards a number of measures including:

• Loft insulation
• Cavity wall insulation
• Draught proofing
• Hot water tank insulation
• Energy efficient light bulbs
• Repairs to existing heating
• Gas, electric or oil central heating
• Glass-fronted fires

Grants are for up to £2,700 for gas and electrically heated homes and £4,000 for oil heated homes. If you have applied for a Warm Front grant and there is an excess to pay contact us as there may be grants available to cover this excess.

Herefordshire Council’s Special Energy Efficiency Scheme (SEES)

We have grants of up to £500 per household for the following energy efficiency measures:

• Loft insulation
• Cavity Wall Insulation
• Thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs)
• Room thermostats
• Radiator panels
• Draught proofing
• Hot water tank jacket

We also have grants available to help towards the cost of utilising renewable energy in the home including:

• Solar thermal  
• Biomass boilers
• Wind turbines
• Ground source heat pumps

The criteria for these grants is subject to change through the year so please contact us to find out what the qualifying criteria are at present. 

Energy Supplier Schemes

Most energy suppliers provide funding for cavity wall insulation and loft insulation under The Energy Efficiency Commitment (EEC). Funding does vary depending on utility company, and house size and type.

A local insulation company, Domestic & General Insulation Ltd, run a scheme to offer discounted loft and cavity wall insulation. This is also funded through EEC. For further information please contact D&G on 0800 013 2910.

Grants for Heating

Warm Front

Warm Front provide grants for heating improvements including gas, electric or oil central heating, repairs to existing heating and conversion of solid-fuel open fires into glass fronted fires. This grant is available to households in receipt of certain benefits. The grant is for up to £2,700 except where oil central heating is being installed or repaired where the grant is up to £4,000.

Warm Front offers the over 60s £300 off the cost of repair or installation of a broken heating system. To find out if you qualify  contact Warm Front on 0800 316 6012.

SHEES

For vulnerable households we have grants available under the Council's Special Energy Efficiency Scheme for Heating (SHEES) for new boilers and central heating systems. These include energy efficient condensing boilers, biomass boilers, ground source heat pumps. We may also be able to help cover excess payments on other grants. Magic Boiler Scheme

For households that do not qualify for a grant towards a new boiler, the Magic Boiler Scheme offers discounted boilers and central heating controls. This scheme is run by Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Energy Efficiency Advice Centre. Current building regulations state that all boilers installed must be A or B rated, the discounted boilers offered under this scheme are all A rated.

Take The LEAD

Hestia manage an interest free loan scheme for energy efficiency and renewable energy measures. For more information call 0845 60 20 300.

Landlords and tenants

There are grants available for privately rented properties for:

• Loft insulation
• Cavity wall insulation
• Hot water tank jackets
• Draught proofing
  

The level of grant varies depending on the tenant, but can be 100% of the cost of the works. This programme is managed by the Energy Savings Trust. Please contact them directly for more information (0845 674 5555).
