Photovoltaic panels are becoming increasingly popular and are classed as "installation of a controlled service or fitting" and are therefore subject to the Building Regulations 2010 and Approved Documents A (structure) and P (Design and installation of electrical installations).
There are two ways to comply with the Building Regulations, either by submitting a building regulation application or via a Competent Persons Scheme (CPS). If you use a CPS then you should check that the registered company is competent to undertake work relating to both Approved Document A and Approved Document P.
Please note: some Competent Persons Schemes may only cover works in relation to Approved Document P and not Approved Document A. If this is the case then you may need to submit a building regulation application. For further information please contact us on 01432 261938.
