Dog Control Orders

Consultation update

Herefordshire Council dog control orders have been brought in under the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005 they are as follows: 

The orders were agreed on 6 October 2010 and came into force on 25 October 2010.

Summary of orders

Order 1: Removal of dog faeces

This Order requires all persons in control of a dog to remove the faeces. This  applies to land open to the air where public have access across the whole of the county (this does no apply to blind people with guide dogs and disabled people using trained assistance dogs) View Order 1 and map

Order 2: The keeping of dogs on leads

This Order  requires people in charge of a dog to keep it on a lead within all designated community and garden areas and all Herefordshire Council owned cemeteries within the administrative area of Herefordshire Council. View  Order 2 and maps

Order 3: Dogs on leads by direction

This Order requires all persons in control of a dog to put and keep the dog on a lead when directed to do so by an Authorised Officer. This applies to all land open to the air where public have access across the whole of the county. View Order 3 and maps

Order 4: The exclusion of dogs from certain areas

This Order will ban dogs from certain areas of land as specified in the order where children play, used for particular sporting or leisure purposes, community areas and designated fields. View Order 4 and map
