How can I dispose of my waste legally?

If you have household rubbish that you wish to dispose of, it can be taken free of charge to one of Herefordshire's household waste collection sites. Information on these can be found on Household Waste Sites page. You should however be aware that any household waste brought to one of these sites in a trailer, commercial vehicle or pick-up truck must be accompanied with a relevant permit, to prevent the illegal disposal of trade or industrial waste here. Information on the permit schemes can be found by visiting the Worcestershire County Council website.

Recycling centres are also available across the county and may prove to be the best outlet for your household waste. Information on this can be found on the Recycling Centres page.

If you have bulky household waste but are unable to transport it to one of out household waste collection sites, then you can arrange for the council to collect it from your house for a small fee.

Similarly, some parishes and villages benefit from a free 'Parish Freighter Service' which is provided by Herefordshire Council in conjunction with some parish and town councils. These freighter services operate on Saturdays and allow you to take your bulky household waste to a pre-agreed location (usually a local car park) where you can dispose of the waste directly, without having to drive to one of the household waste collection sites in the towns.

You should be aware that none of these sites or schemes will accept trade waste and therefore private arrangements for its collection should be made. Herefordshire Council is able to offer a competitive trade waste collection service.
