Environmental Management

Herefordshire Council began putting in place an Environmental Management System, known internally as GEM (Good Environmental Management) in 2002. This system ensures that all the potential environmental impacts of the Council's activities have been assessed and are being managed and continually improved overall. After four years of continual expansion, all departments and services of the council are now certified to the international Envrionmental Managment Standard ISO 14001. The system is externally audited twice a year to ensure compliance with the standard.
